A Ketogenic diet is high fat, Medium protein, low carbohydrate diet.

The goal of the Keto Diet is to get you into a state of Ketosis where you use fat as energy as opposed to carbohdrates.

So what is so special about this diet…

that sets it apart from all the 1000’s of diets we have tried and mostly failed! From my own personal experience the keto diet worked for me and changed my life.  It may not be for everyone but it definitely is worth you taking the time understand the concept and take a look at the results it has had for so many people and not only in weight loss.

When I first discovered the Keto Diet , I got a bit confused and frustrated with all the detailed information available and it took me a while before I made the decsion to start this diet. Eventually I broke it down, understood how it worked and what I needed to do. I kept it very simple and basic and over time I have became an expert at simpifiling the Keto diet.

It is also interesting to note that there are 4 different types of ketogenic diet. Which helped me a lot. Especially when it came maintaining my weight and making it part of a lifestyle habit. This is the hardest part for any weight loss programme.

The Standard Ketogenic Diet (SKD) – This is the regular keto diet, most effective way to lose weight. The ratio you are looking for is: 75% from healthy fats, 20% from quality protein, and 5% from carbohydrate.

The Targeted Ketogenic Diet (TKD) – This version is aimed at athletes and people not needing to lose fat or weight but maintain high levels of energy and stamina. You increase your carbs to eat 20-50 grams per day, targeted around exercise.

The Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (CKD) – This is the perfect option for some people (myself included) to make it easier to be able to maintain the keto diet plan for the long term. Results can be slower but I believe you may achieve much better long results. It will help make this diet a lifestyle rather than a fad. You start the Standard Ketogenic Diet for set time, then increase your carb diet for a couple days and restart the cycle. A sort of 80 /20 diet

The High-Protein Ketogenic Diet –  If you are a body builder / weight lifter looking to increase lean mass you will need to decrease fats to 60%, increase protein to 35%, and 5% carbs.

While the first week or so might be difficult, as long as you keep up with ketosis every single day, you will soon discover that you can eat smaller meals with plenty of protein and nutrients, but not overeat.Your cravings start to go away and your appetite overall isn’t as bad.
